Charlotte all around was an amazing city with both Northern hustle and bustle with Southern charm and hospitality. I LOVED this city and would happily come back. Let me share with you the places I got to visit while I was in Charlotte.
As someone who has lost in the dessert round of Chopped, it's always good to learn more about dessert. Although this wasn't the best flourless molten cake I've ever had, I appreciate the attention to detail in the recipe and Chef Elmie Rabe's diligence of cleanliness in her kitchen!
This is one of the classic examples of something that sounds/looks better than it actually is. The cones were a little stale but the flavors developed by Chef Fred Quinones within the cones were quite nice. The shrimp had great spice and flavor, the fried chicken was good, and the poke was UBER fresh and light!
Is it the best Fried Chicken I've ever had? It just might be! When you have dedication to your dish, a well-trained chef (Carman Spadaro), supportive owners, and a $40,000 fried chicken pressure fryer - it's pretty easy.
SOUL GASTRO LOUNGE
Like what?! Unfortunately we didn't go here for the show but after a late night Saturday, my buddy and I went here and just DEVOURED half the menu. With a sushi bar and great late night bites, I really fell in love with this second story amazing restaurant. Plenty of soul and a sleeper for the best Late Nite Eats, NOT ON THE SHOW...
LITTLE VILLAGE GRILL
Gyro Salad - every day I'd run past this while filming and there was line during lunch... thus I HAD TO try it out while filming. IT DID NOT disappoint. Classic gyro, great flavor, and just exactly what you'd expect but better.
Haberdish was one of the better fried chickens I've had in my life. That includes, Nashville and random NYC places that claim theirs is the best. The drinks and specifically the Milk Punch at Haberdish were incredible and was done by a bar master!
